Profile

Shiva graduated from Sydney University in 1990. After completing physician training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and advanced training in Cardiology and an imaging fellowship at Prince of Wales Hospital, Shiva has been a dedicated Cardiologist to the Sutherland Shire since 2001. He looks after a broad spectrum of adult cardiac patients and has specific interests in cardiac imaging and medical education. He performs transoesophageal echo and reports cardiac CT. He directs the echo service at Sutherland hospital where he is a senior staff specialist taking care of acute cardiac admissions in a busy on call roster.

Continuing Education/Teaching/Research

Shiva is a highly regarded medical educator and mentor to medical students at UNSW, junior doctors and physician trainees at Sutherland hospital. He is co-supervisor of cardiology advanced trainees in the Sutherland/Prince of Wales network, and with them has continued research interests in cardiac imaging and clinical cardiology. He regularly attends local and international cardiac meetings. He also speaks regularly to a broad range of audiences from patients with heart disease to GPs, and fellow Cardiologists. Shiva has been an examiner for the RACP since 2008.

Personal

Shiva is an enthusiastic musician, photographer and masters division footballer. Until now he has resisted the temptation to lose his money by purchasing a vineyard.
